Pursuant to Sec. 1-13 of the Stafford County code;

   (a) Adoption of seal.  The seal of Stafford County is hereby adopted to be the seal currently in use by the county as of this sixteenth day of June, 1987.  Briefly, described, this seal consists of a picture of the Stafford County County Courthouse in a circle, surrounded by the words "STAFFORD COUNTY VIRGINIA-PROGRESS SINCE 1664."

  (b)  Keeper of the seal.  The keeper of the seal shall be the clerk of the county board of supervisors, and it shall be maintained in the office of the clerk of the board.

  (c)  Seal deemed property of county; unauthorized use.  The seal of Stafford County shall be deemed the property of the county.  No persons shall exhibit, display, or in any manner utilize the seal or any facsimile or representation of the seal of the county for nongovernmental purposes unless such use is specifically authorized by the board of supervisors.

Any person violating the provision of this section shall be punished by a fine or not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) per unauthorized use. (Ord. No. 087-49, 6-16-87)

The County of Stafford, and public records held by the County of Stafford, are subject to the disclosure provisions of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. See Virginia Code §§ 2.2-3700 et seq.
