Private Trespass Towing Advisory Committee to Meet

May 27

The Private Trespass Towing Advisory Committee will meet on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ford T. Humphrey Public Safety Building to discuss a proposed ordinance to regulate the removal of vehicles from private property.

The committee, appointed by the Stafford Board of Supervisors in March 2009, is composed of local law enforcement officers, representatives of licensed towing and recovery operators, and one member of the public. The proposed ordinance will address issues including towing vehicles that are trespassing on property that is posted “private” such as apartment complexes and businesses, establish charges for towing and storage, and set regulations about notifying the vehicle owner and how payment to claim the vehicle may be made.

The Public Safety Building is located at 1225 Courthouse Road.
