Stafford Invites Citizens To Local Government Classes

June 9

Stafford County officials will host a series of classes this summer for citizens interested in learning how their local government operates.

The “Stafford County Citizens Academy 101” will run once a week on Wednesdays from July 8 – August 5. Topics will cover the Board of Supervisors, key departments, the County budget, and history and tourism. The last class will include a tour of the Public Safety Center and the County’s newest fire and rescue station on Courthouse Road.

All classes will run from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the exception of July 15, which will run until 9:00 p.m. The classes will be held at the Stafford Administration Building at 1300 Courthouse Road. They are free of charge.

The deadline to register is June 29, 2009. Space is limited and students are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The minimum age to participate is 16. To register, please contact Jeff Shover, Citizens Assistance and Volunteer Services Manager, at (540) 658-4516.
