Stafford County officials invite interested individuals to attend workshops on the County’s redevelopment efforts. The schedule for the workshops follows:

Thursday, April 23
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
University of Mary Washington College of Graduate and Professional Studies
121 University Boulevard, Fredericksburg, VA 22406 in south Stafford

Courthouse Redevelopment Area
(Area encompassing the Stafford Courthouse, Government buildings, and the new Stafford hospital on Route 1)
Tuesday, April 28
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Rowser Building
1739 Jefferson Davis Highway, Stafford 22554

Boswell’s Corner Redevelopment Area
(A two-mile stretch extending south from Quantico Marine Corps Base along Route 1 and I-95)
Thursday, April 30
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Hilldrup Moving and Storage
4022 Jefferson Davis Highway, Stafford 22554

The goal of the workshops is for staff and CMSS Architects, the lead consultant on the project, to obtain the public’s input on the preliminary redevelopment plans for each of the areas. The workshops will be interactive, with participants working in groups of six to eight people to exchange ideas and discuss opportunities.

Stafford’s 2006 Economic Development Strategic Plan identified these four areas as prime locations for redevelopment. Officials are encouraging redevelopment through private sector investment and partnership with the goal of providing a framework for improvements over time. The workshops are the next step toward finalizing plans.

For more information on redevelopment, visit Economic Development’s Web site at www.gostaffordva.gov or call the department at (540) 658-8681.
